Taste a triumph for 2014

A crowd of over 13,000 made their way through the Maitland City Centre on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 March for the 2014 Maitland Taste, Food, Wine and Music Festival.

Celebrity chef Janelle Bloom headlined the annual event, demonstrating recipes from her bestselling cook books, offering tips for the home cook and spilling the beans on the antics of some of her Ready Steady Cook colleagues.

The team from The Old George and Dragon Restaurant, led by Head Chef Gavin Forman, also entertained an attentive audience with demonstrations which included preparing a three course meal for six on a budget of $50.00. Some lucky audience members were invited to enjoy the delicious food, matched with Tulloch Wines.

A popular addition to the 2014 Festival was the Maitland's Tastiest Home Cook competition, which saw three local home cooks compete for a Kenwood Chef 1000w Food Mixer valued at over $400.00, kindly donated by Brad Sangster of the Good Guys East Maitland. Aberglasson's Kalpana Rameshchandran was crowned Maitland's Tastiest Home Cook, after impressing judges with her Fruit and Nut Pulao and Aloo Channa.

Over 60 stallholders from across the Hunter Region provided a smorgasbord of treats during this annual celebration of food, wine and music.

Janelle Bloom's recipes from the weekend, along with those from the Maitland's Tastiest Home Cook can be found at the demonstrations tab of the website.
